Apply Rhinestones to Your Pedicure Jun 15, 2008

Step1

Apply clear nail polish. Start with a finished pedicure (colored nail bed, frenchie or au-natural). Apply a thin layer of clear polish over the nail bed you are planning to add the gems to (I use OPI’s Start to Finish Clear Polish). The clear polish will act as the adhesive for the gems. I have chosen to only add the gems to my big toes only. I prefer to keep nail art subtle and not over do it.

Step2

Gem round stones by Dannyco. Use Individual Rhinestones to design your custom layout. I am using the wheel dispenser of medium round stones by Dannyco. The innovative dispenser wheel makes it very easy to remove these small stones safely and with ease.

Step3

Plan your design. Plan and layout your design first to get the expected results. You can lay them out on a piece of paper or draw a mock up. It is a good idea to plan it first so you can see how they fit on your nails. Check out the sample designs below for some ideas.

Step4

Pick up the gems. Position the gems onto the nail while the clear polish is still wet. Use an orange stick or toothpick to pick up your rhinestones. First dip the tip in water and then pick up your rhinestone in your wheel. The water acts as a temporary magnet.

Step5

Adhere the gems to your nail bed. Adhere your rhinestones to your nail bed. Nudge the gems lightly to place them into your preferred design. This may take a little patience - it is well worth it.

Step6

Apply a final coat of clear nail polish. After applying all your gems, apply a coat of clear top coat to seal and keep your design in place. Apply a top coat every 3-4 days to keep it lasting pretty!

Step7

And here’s the final. And here it is - all ready for some nice open-toed shoes!

Apply Red Lipstick Jun 15, 2008

Step1

Apply a light layer of liquid foundation to your lips and allow it to dry.

Step2

Dust your lips with a translucent powder to set the foundation. The foundation and powder create a smooth surface for applying the lipstick and help keep it from fading.

Step3

Line your lips with a lip liner that best matches your chosen shade of red. Lip liner keeps the lipstick from bleeding. Smudge the liner around the edges for a natural look.

Step4

Use a professional-grade lip brush to apply the red lipstick starting at the center of you lips and moving out. A little red goes a long way. Using a brush instead of the stick delivers the perfect amount of color.

Step5

Blot the first layer of lipstick lightly with a tissue.

Step6

Apply a second layer of red lipstick again beginning in the center and working out.

apply New Summer Makeup Tips to get ready for summer! Part 2 Jun 15, 2008

Step1

Eyeshodow (Eyes): Summer is all about no fussing and being outside to enjoy yourself, but this doesn’t mean that you have to look blah to do so. Here are a couple of eye makeup tips to kick off your summer look. Waterproof everything this summer will be your best friend! Try a liquid eyeshadow such as MAC paint pots in rubenesque which is a peachy golden tone with a beautiful iridescence. Clarins make great new waterproof eye khols, try turquoise for a bright pop of color that will stay. No need to buy expensive mascara that doesn’t work, try Maybelline makes a great waterproof mascara in the blackest black, but don’t forget to use your shu uemera eye lash curler to curl your lashes first to open your eyes.

Step2

MAC Makeup Lips): When I think of summer lips I picture full juicy lips that taste as sweet as they look! Try the new Chanel Aqualumiere lipgloss in Vanilla or Candy Glow for a smooth as butter feel and a shine that won’t stop. I also like the plushglass lipgloss by MAC in fullfilled or Posh It Up which actually subtly plumps your lips with a regular use of the product. Laura Mercier makes a great Lip Exfoliant that is paired with a lip balm to keep you lips kiss-ably soft that can be used a couple of times a week.

Step3

(Nails): Girls don’t forget to get a pedicure! This is one of my biggest pet peeves when women don’t take of their feet. I am queen of the home pedicure! Take time out once a week to remove your polish and soak your feet in warm water filled with peppermint oil (2 tsp.), Epsom salt (1/4 cup), and to sanitize I use hydrogen peroxide in the water (equal part to the amount of water). After soaking for 15-20 minutes scrub your nails and toes with a nail brush designated for just your toe nails using soap and rinse. Now it is pumice stone time! Scrub away those calluses girls! Apply a nice moisturizing foot lotion to your feet and ankles, I love Aveda Foot Lotion. Now it is time to polish those toes.. Try the India line by OPI which is rich in color, I have never had trouble with OPI staying on my nails or being true to color.

Step4

Foundation makeup (Foundation and Concealer): Never leave your house without concealer ladies! As women we naturally have thin skin around our eye area which shows darkness and discoloration more so than men, so concealer is one of those products that you should not walk out of your door without. In the summer all of your products should be more sheer so the same goes with your foundation. I like to mix my liquid foundation with one of my favorite moisturizers to acheive that natural look with a glow and apply in circular motions using a MAC brush #187. Use one half pump of your moisturizer or half of a pearl size and half of the amount of foundation that you would typically use and mix them in the palm of your hand to make your own tinted moisturizer. One of my makeup tips that I always give to women is to use a loose powder versus a pressed because the loose powder is so fine that it sets your foundation so much better. Try a water resistant concealer so you don’t find yourself touching up constantly, I like MAC studio finish concealer or Shu Uemeras pro concealer and then set your concealer with Laura Mercier secret powder for a soft luminous look around the eye that lasts all day!
Now I think you should be ready for summer! I hope you find these tips useful for your new makeup look, but don’t hesitate to email me with any questions or concerns! Also, if you are striving to be a bronzed , but you are on a budget I can help to recommend some home remedies and more affordable products to help you acheive your desired look.

Until next time, http://www.AskaMakeupGuru.com

apply mineral makeup Jun 15, 2008

Step1

cleanse! okay first off its always best to start with a clean canvas! So start by cleansing your face with your favorite cleanser, use a wash cloth if you like to help exfoliate you skin and remove any dead skin.

Step2

moisturize! apply about a nickel size amount of moisturizer to your face and neck, allow the moisturizer to fully absorb before you apply any foundation.

Step3

If you need to conceal any problem areas, then take a cream concealer and apply to the places needed, such as under your eyes or over any redness or acne or any other problem areas, just take a small amount on your fingertip or concealer brush and blend right on top of the area until it blends in with the rest of your skin tone.

Step4

okay now you want to take a little bit of the minerals onto your index finger and apply a small line to your jaw line and make sure it matches your skin tone correctly, if so, dap your brush into the minerals, you don’t need too much, and apply in a circular motion around the outside of your face and work your way in. remember to blend, blend, blend, all around so that it looks natural, add more if you need to.

Color a Tattoo Jun 15, 2008

Step1

Decide if you want color. Many tattoos are done in black or “gray washed,” which means they are colored with varying shades of black. Bold tribal pieces are generally always done in black along with most lettering and portraits are usually done like a black and white photo. On the other hand, many pieces, especially some oriental designs and many feminine designs are completed in full color.

Step2

Think about your favorite colors. Many people choose to incorporate their favorite color in their design to make it more personal and unique to them. They may choose a design that has been done before, but by using their own individual color scheme, they make the design theirs.

Step3

Talk to the tattoo artist about what colors look best over time. Many lighter colors, especially yellow, pink and white will fade quicker than darker shades. Darker colors tend to stand out better especially on darker skin tones. Your skin tone will actually affect how some colors will look not only over time, but in some cases immediately. For example, oranges and yellows generally never show well on dark skin, but reds and greens are usually not a problem.

Step4

Discuss the potential for allergic reaction to certain pigments. Red, which is the second most popular color next to black, is commonly considered the most likely color to cause an allergic reaction followed by yellow. In some cases, the area just itches occasionally and an over-the-counter ointment can be used to counteract the reaction, but in very extreme cases, the tattoo has to be removed. If it’s your first tattoo and you want color, it’s best to start with something small to see how your skin will react to the various pigments.

Step5

Make sure you are choosing colors that are coordinating or contrasting to each other. You don’t want to choose colors that are so close in pigment that they blend together so much the design is indistinguishable or the combination just doesn’t blend well. A good tattoo artist should be able to explain what colors will look good together and which won’t.

Step6

Take the tattoo artist’s advice. Although you may have to change your original color scheme, the artist, through her vast experience in combining colors, may offer a very good reason why certain colors should not be used in your design.

clean stains from your nails. Jun 15, 2008

Step1

If your nails are yellow from cuticle to tip:
1)take all polish off, sometimes old polish can dry into a yellowish color.
2)take your lemon or juice and soak a cotton ball or Q-tip with the juice.
3)scrub your nails with the lemon juice
4)let the lemon juice set for 5 minutes
5)wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water
6)dry your hands and nails

Check your nails, if they are still yellow repeat 2-6. It may take a couple of tries to get the stains to go away.

Step2

Yellow or brown color under the tip:
1)clean under your nails with a sharp file in order to get all of the dirt out from under them.
2)soak a Q-tip with fingernail polish remover
3)clean under your nails
4)soak the other end of the Q-tip in lemon juice
5)clean under your nails with the lemon juice
6)wash your hands with soap and water
7)clean under your nails with the sharp nail file again

most if not all of the stain should be gone, if not repeat steps 1-7

Step3

Buff and file your nails regularly in order to avoid nail stains. When cleaning use gloves, the harsh chemicals in cleaning agents can cause discoloration of your nails.

Step4

If the stains on or under your nails do not lighten or go away, you may have a type of fungus. There are over-the-counter nail fungus treatments available at your local pharmacy. Ex: fungi-nail, zeta clear, quick cure, etc.

Care for Sexy Legs Jun 15, 2008

Step1

Exercise regularly. Combining aerobic exercise with targeted strength training moves is a great way to maintain strong, lean muscles–a must have for sexy legs.

Step2

Stick to a healthy diet. A healthy diet will help you maintain a healthy weight and can keep your skin in good shape.

Step3

Consider taking supplements to help reverse skin damage and keep skin healthy. Vitamin C and vitamin E have been shown to help improve skin damage from sun exposure, while vitamin A, vitamin K and vitamin B complex have additional benefits for the skin.

Step4

Remove hair from legs by shaving, waxing or using depilatory creams. Shaving is the easiest way to get rid of unwanted , but it has the shortest lasting results. Waxing lasts the longest, but it’s also the most expensive, time consuming and painful.

Step5

Moisturize legs often. Frequently apply a liberal amount of a quality lotion or cream designed to deliver extra moisture. You should moisturize every time you get out of a shower or bath and before you go to bed.

Step6

Exfoliate your legs once a week to remove dead skin cells and revitalize the look of your skin. Sea salt and sugar scrubs are great exfoliators, but there are many products on the market you can choose from.

Step7

Give your legs a healthy bronze glow using self-tanner or professional sunless tanner. Tan legs look slimmer, and skin appears visually smoother and blemish free. Exfoliate thoroughly before applying sunless tanner for the most even and long lasting results.

Step8

Take to cover legs in sunscreen whenever they are exposed to sunlight. Sunburn not only looks horrible, it can cause the skin on your legs and the rest of your to prematurely age. This can lead to unsightly wrinkles, freckles, discoloration and spider veins.

Use Crystal Underarm Deodorant Jun 15, 2008

Step1

Keep in mind that all-natural items are becoming more commonplace in the mainstream marketplace, so it may be possible to find crystal deodorant in your local grocery, drug or big-box stores.

Step2

Look for crystal deodorant at health food and all-natural stores including Whole Foods and GNC. fully comparison shop, however, as the prices at these stores may be higher than comparable prices available through other venues.

Step3

Use the Internet as a resource if you cannot find a shop in your local area that sells crystal underarm deodorant.

Step4

Remove and unwrap crystal just prior to usage. Wet with a small amount of tap water. If you have very sensitive skin or live in an area with poor water supply, use distilled bottled water.

Step5

Slowly rub crystal across your underarm area, taking to avoid any broken skin or irritated areas.

Step6

Rinse your crystal fully before storing, to ensure that any skin particles are removed. Dry thoroughly before storing, as the crystal can break down faster if left damp.

Step7

Store your crystal underarm deodorant in a cool, dry place between applications. Crystals can be damaged or lose potency if stored in a humid or hot area, and can also crack, dry out and crumble. Ideally, use a covered dish for storing your crystal underarm deodorant–it may even come with its own carrying case.

Treat Spider Veins With Diet Jun 15, 2008

Step1

Add berries such as blueberries and raspberries to your diet. These foods are high in bioflavonoids, which help strengthen blood vessels. Try two tablespoons of berries in your morning cereal or yogurt each day.

Step2

Pick citrus fruits for snacking. Grapefruits, oranges and tangerines all have bioflavonoids in the white membranes of the fruit. Be ful not to peel the white fibers away.

Step3

Supplement your diet with 50 to 125 milligrams of gingko biloba per day. This herb works to strengthen the tissues that constitute vein walls. Gingko biloba can be obtained from health food stores and online from such vendors as Physician Formulas and Vitamin World (see Resources below).

Step4

Incorporate extra fiber into your diet to treat frequent constipation. It is believed that constipation restricts blood flow through the veins, which can result in the development of spider veins. Aim for 25 grams per day to help regulate your system. Fiber-rich foods include bran cereal, green vegetables and berries.

Step5

Drink four ounces of herbal tea two or three times per day to help with vein problems. You can brew the tea with one tablespoon of St. John’s wort, Arnica root or yarrow. These particular herbs are purported to be effective against the development of spider veins.

Step6

Reduce the amount of salt you normally ingest. The dehydrating properties of sodium are detrimental to vein health. Try other sodium-free mixes made with dried herbs and spices to season your food.

Step7

Eat low-calorie, well-balanced meals to promote good vein health. Obese people are more likely to develop spider veins than thin ones. Obese persons who lose weight report better vein health than when they were heavier.

Step8

Use a combination of specific vitamins to treat spider veins. Try 50 milligrams of zinc, 300 I.U. of vitamin E, two tablets of 6X calcium fluoride and one tablespoon of lecithin granules per day.
